Kenneth Paul Watson

Kenneth Paul Watson, 69, died after a short illness at his home in New Bern, NC on Monday, January 22, 2018. Paul was born September 13, 1948, grew up in Lowland, North Carolina and graduated from Pamlico County High School.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Cola and Nelia Watson, his brother, Clevis Watson (Helen) and his sister, Lois Ballance (George).

He is survived by his loving partner, Flora; his son, Paul Watson II and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Chloe Watson and Charlie Watson of Suffolk, VA; his sisters, Alice Lewis of Beaufort, SC, Ban O’Neal (Levy) of Reelsboro, NC, Wanda Rhodes (Ken) of Concord, NC and Donna Tant (Larry) of Charlotte NC. He is also preceded in death by three nieces and survived by five nieces, two nephews and close friends. He was devoted to his two his pets, Lilly and Archie.

Paul retired from The North Carolina Department of Corrections in 2010 after which he enjoyed playing golf with friends and was an avid Tarheels basketball fan. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Perry-Griffin Foundation in Oriental, NC.

Paul requested that no funeral or memorial service be held. Donations can be made in his honor to The Perry-Griffin Foundation, P.O. Box 82, Oriental, NC 28571.
