Juwan Fredrico Suggs, 61, passed away on April 12, 2025. He was born October 1, 1963, in New Bern, NC to Amanda and Jimmie Suggs. Juwan played basketball at New Bern High School. After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Army.
Juwan was a faithful believer in his heavenly Father and shared his beliefs with many. He was a faithful member of Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Foundation Life Fellowship where he served in the parking lot and usher ministries.
He was constantly reminding us that "God has all of the answers, so trust God." He would say to us now, "I'm okay, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Juwan cared deeply for his family. In 1983 Juwan was preceded in death by a baby brother, Kelvin Jerome Suggs, at 5 years of age. He cherished his memories of Kelvin.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a wife, Patrice Suggs, and a son, Isaac Lee Suggs, of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Suggs; two sisters, Sumantha Suggs-Taylor Golden (Craig), and Lanetta McCarter; one brother, Tremell Suggs; and one brother-in-law, Keith Brazell; two aunts, Havana Suggs and Roberta Tripp; two uncles, James Dove and Eugene Adams; a godmother, Mary Mattocks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Juwan's presence in our lives has been a gift and a blessing. Our storms are only temporary, but the blessing of the Lord lasts forever.
A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Foundation Life Fellowship Church. A celebration of Juwan's life will begin at 11:00 am. Following the service, a committal service will be held at 2:00 pm at Eastern Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Juwan Fredrico Suggs.
