John Sam Ricks, Jr.

He was born in the Woodrow community of New Bern and he served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sam Ricks, Sr. and Millie Harrell Ricks.

John is survived by his wife, Brenda Hughes Ricks, his children, Trina Wiggins and husband Charles of Vanceboro; David Ricks of New Bern; Mary Baker and husband Jesse of New Bern; his step-children, Lee Norman and Paula Norman, both of New Bern; grandchildren, Richie Wiggins and wife Jen, Kris Wiggins, all of Vanceboro; Coty, Colton and James Baker, all of New Bern. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Aubry, Chloe, Nickolas and Gabriella Wiggins of Vanceboro; and his siblings, Alice Register and husband CB of Ayden; Betty Ormond and husband Ray of New Bern; and Ronnie and Angie Lewis of Chocowinity.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Cotton Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
