John Raymond Barron

John was a beloved ministry leader for over 60 years and made significant contributions to the growth and development of many people as director of five Christian camps and as a church leader. He was known for his love and encouragement, leading others to a deeper relationship with Jesus. He loved watching birds, photography and playing the keyboard.

John touched the lives of many with his love for Bible Study and sharing how God’s Word affects every part of our lives. He has been called many times a “Kingdom Clydesdale.” His license plate is “KGDM NOW”. His testimony of the grace of Christ has changed innumerable families forever. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his church family.

John is survived by his wife, Frances Parker Barron, his brother, William (Bill) Barron, John’s three children and their spouses: Jonathan & Lydia Barron & their children Rachel (Johannes) Byle, Deborah Barron, and Titus Barron, Joy & Francois Guilleux and children Annelise, and Sebastien; Joel & Dana Barron, & sons, Foster, and Bode. John was preceded in death by his parents and his late wife Sandra Ruth McGlaughlin Barron. John was especially proud of Wayne Watts, a spiritual son in Christ.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Temple Church, 1500 Kingdom Way, New Bern, NC. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Baptist Church in John’s memory. Also enjoy a round of chess or a game of Rook, John’s favorite games.
