James McRay Stokes Jr.

James McRay Stokes, Jr., 83, of New Bern, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Known as "Mack" by his family and friends, he was a loving husband, father and devoted friend. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the N.C. Dept. of Transportation. He was a member of Doric Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A.M., Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 129 and the Sudan Van Patrol.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bonnie Moore Stokes; children, James M. Stokes, III and Lisa Stokes O'Neal; grandchildren, James M. Stokes, IV (Christy), Brittany Lauren Stokes (Aaron), and Robert Thomas O'Neal; as well as his great grandchildren, Ella Grace Stokes, Davis James Stokes, Cora Lynn Sensenig and Demi Rae Sensenig.

Memorial Service will be 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
