George Ronald Fusco, 80, of River Bend, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on the morning of Friday, May 6, 2016. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Louis and Edith Fusco. George proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 42 years where he worked as a Flight Engineer and later as an In-Flight Refueling Manager until his retirement in 1990 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his retirement, he moved to North Carolina where he loved spending time golfing, fishing, riding his bike, and going to the beach.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with Father Thomas Tully presiding. Committal service will follow at the Lakeside Chapel of Greenleaf Memorial Park with military honors presented by the U.S. Air Force honor guard.
George is survived by his loving wife, Lou Ann Fusco; his children, Donna Fusco, Debra Fusco, and George R. Fusco; his stepchildren, Lois Anne Zitzow, Tracey Bigelow (Jon), Donna Paulson (Bill), Ashley Shivar (Mike), and Brandon Geist (Stacy); his sister, Norma Sperlazzo (John); his brother, Victor Fusco (Fran); seven grandchildren; and his two beloved dogs, Stella and Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Edith Fusco and wife, Lois Malinson Fusco.
