Eva Mae Clark at age 83, was granted her angel wings. On February 12, 2022, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Eva Mae survived 16 years of battling cancer and treatments. She always pushed herself, she never complained and did not let it slow her down. Eva Mae was born in New Bern on August 9, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Jones and Annie Bell Phillips Jones.
Eva Mae was a member of Spring Hope OFWB Church for 64 years. She held many different positions including church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Bible School director and teacher, youth choir director, Ladies Auxiliary president and treasurer and youth leader for many years plus anything else that was needed. She served on the board of directors for Camp Vandemere. She was camp director for one week every summer for over 45 years. She touched many young lives through her life and testimony.
Her interests including mowing grass, riding her John Deere, working in the yard, going to yard sales, collecting salt and pepper shakers, eating at China Garden, her cat “Miss Priss” but her favorite and most enjoyable time was spent with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Eva Mae was preceded in death by Ruben Clark, her husband of 55 years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Earl Clark, Son in law, Randy Toler, Stepdaughter, Debbie Hutchins, Foster Daughter, Becky Warren and brothers, Joseph Earl Jones, Alfred Jones and Carlton Jones.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Darnell Clark of Nashville, TN, Glenda Toler Raynor and husband John of New Bern, and Brenda Clark Winstead and companion Andrew Lamm of Castalia; Raiford Casper, special friend for many years; Carl Jones who was like a son to her; Steve Thomas her honorary grandson; brothers Cleo Jones, Jimmy Jones and wife Jackie and sister Annette Canady. Eva was ‘MeMa” to 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Family will receive visitors at the home of John & Glenda Raynor at 435 Half Moon Road, New Bern. A visitation for Eva Mae will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home with Rex Bennett officiating and Cliff Tyson speaking. Eva Mae will be laid to rest in Greenleaf Memoral Park.

The family wants to send their sincerest thanks to Dr. John Cho and Jamee Potter, of Carolina East Cancer Center, Dr. Jennifer Aron, (palliative/hospice care) Craven County Home Health, Craven County Hospice and April Deese. Dr. Cho helped us to gain many years after the first cancer diagnosis and we will never forget what it meant to our family and what it meant to her.
