Beth's life began in Springfield , Mass Oct 8, 1947. She was the daughter of an avid baker Norma Harlow, her father John (Buster) Harlow and her sisters Judy and Wendy.
Beth was an avid planner, volunteer and family health care provider. She was always helping with the Lions, her church and family. This usually revolved around much baking. She has a soft spot for those in need.
Beth dated Kurt Nelson after he was bribed by Dick Jeffery to take her to prom. It must have been a great night. They later married, moved to Connecticut and children Nancy, Kim and Jon followed. (Jon is the favorite). She had 6 grandchildren, Kat, Connor, Hunter, Logan,Bailey and Morgan.
Beth’s other passion was travel. She would happily drive 8-12 hrs to visit friends and family. Her poor van had so many highway miles. She had endless energy. She recently made her sister Judy her Thelma to Beth’s Louise. They had many trips planned which they had yet to visit.
She fulfilled her retirement dream after escaping the winters and taxes in Connecticut by moving closer to the ocean in New Bern NC. There she created a baker’s kitchen…but was still searching for the perfect temperature oven. She was also able to connect with all her nieces and nephews in NC, Dean, Sherry, Holly and Heather.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the organization she devoted much of her time to in retirement, The New Bern Lions Club, PO Box 15263, New Bern, NC 28561. (checks should be made out to New Bern Lions) She baked for many of their events.
She made a peaceful exit on April 7, 2024 to meet Kurt at the pearly gates. Hopefully he won’t be late to greet her. She may start reorganizing the heavenly sphere.
Service will be held at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse BLVD, New Bern, NC 28560. Service for Beth will be April 18, 2024, 3pm.
