Edward Alan Carroll

Edward "Alan" Carroll, 68, of New Bern, NC, was called home on March 6, 2023. He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, wife Peggy Paschal Carroll; son Matthew Paschal and wife Jessica; daughter Mandi Paschal Lewis and significant other Andrew Christie. He has left a big void in the lives of his "adored" grandchildren: Phillip Edward, Bridget, Michaela, Juliana ("Punkin"), Joseph Alan, Jacob, Cassidy and many, many other children who loved their "Poppie/Pop". He is also survived by his sister Rebecca "Becky" Carroll, brother Shepherd "Shep" Carroll and wife Mary Ann, sister-in-law Judy Geiss and husband Walter, as well as many nieces, nephews and aunts.

He was predeceased by his parents Eddie and Venie Carroll and sister, Donna Potter.

Alan was a Navy veteran who was proud to have served. He was Past-Master of the Grantham Masonic Lodge and the current treasurer. He was a Past-Captain of the Sudan Mini Cars. He also served his community by working at Cotten Funeral Home after he retired from Cherry Point. Alan was well-known for his "pig" cooking for many, many neighbors, friends and others he could serve. His personality was definitely a gift from God. He was a "giver" and the "rock" of his family. If anyone ever called, he was always there and ready to help. He was a church deacon and loved his church family at Crossroads Baptist Church. Alan had a "boat load" of friends and he will be sorely missed.

A celebration of Alan's life will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin VaLeu officiating. Masonic Rites will be provided by Grantham Lodge and Military Honors by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends just prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alan's name to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or to the Sudan Shriners (Hospital for Children), P. O. Box 12829, New Bern, NC 28561.
