Edna E. Brownell

Edna E. Brownell, 75 of New Bern, died October 29, 2012 at Vidant Medical Center.

She owned and operated Edna’s Beauty Shop for over 40 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church and she was involved with many fundraisers to help those in need. Edna enjoyed knitting and she was also involved with the Prayer Shaw Ministry at Broad Street. She is preceded in death by her husband Philip Brownell, her parents, Ray and Josephine Edwards, and her brother, Raeford Edwards.

Edna is survived by two sons, Kenneth Brownell and wife Roseann of New Bern; Greg Brownell of New Bern; one sister, Christine Cahoon of Pamlico County; two grandsons, Ken Brownell, Jr., and wife Maggie, Chris Brownell and wife Kimley, and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Brownell.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Cotten Chapel with Rev. Steve Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Cotten.
