She was born in Person County, NC, on September 17, 1925 to Jackson Luther Cothran and Henrietta "Etta" Cutchin.
The majority of her life was spent with her husband, Isaac N. Reynolds in Chapel Hill, NC after they were married on June 16, 1951 in Timberlake, North Carolina. She graduated from Louisburg Junior College and received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University. For several years, she taught grade school in Leaksville, NC and Durham, NC. Later, she was the Director of the Preschool at Amity United Methodist Church for many, many years. She was a very active member of Amity United Methodist Church where she served on the Pastor Relations committee, Decorations Committee, United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She lovingly hand made numerous Chrismon ornaments for the tree at Amity. Recently, she received recognition for her involvement in the United Methodist Women. At one time, she was on the board on the Methodist Retirement Home at Croasdaile. She was also in the University Women's Garden Club of Chapel Hill for years where she enjoyed lifelong friendships. Last year, she moved to New Bern, NC and made a variety of new friends at her retirement community, McCarthy Court. Her family and church were vital to her, as was her strong faith in God.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis Reynolds Fox and husband, John of New Bern, NC; David Jackson Reynolds and wife, Beth of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Virginia Fox York and husband, Clint; Laura Fox, Melissa Reynolds, and Kevin Reynolds; and great grandchildren, Brylee York and Bodie York. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaac N. Reynolds, and daughter, Anita Gail Reynolds.
