Donald Lee Swindell

He is deeply grieved by his sisters, Donna Swindell Whitehurst (John), Mary Swindell Collins (David), and Fay Swindell Jarman (Jerry); nephews, Jeff Collins (Crystal), Danny Gilbert (Heather), Alex Jarman and Brian Whitehurst; nieces, Krista Jarman (Tyler) and Janet Whitehurst.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Beatrice Swindell and sister, Linda Hall "Cisco."

Donald had served with the Army National Guard and did odd jobs, mostly to do with brick laying. He loved to fish and eat oysters. He had a special place in the hearts of the employees, hospice caregivers, and other patients of the memory care unit of Lenoir Assisted Living. The family appreciates the loving care provided by Gentiva Hospice, especially Amy and Heather.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Cotten Funeral Home with a brief service at 3 p.m. The family will then accompany Donald to his final resting place at Greenleaf Memorial Park for a private committal service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or to one's favorite charity.
