New Bern – Donald Aaron Heath, 59, of New Bern, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 8, 2019, at Vidant Medical Center with his family, and the wonderful Surgery ICU staff by his side.
Donald was an amazing husband and father. He loved spending time in the garage fellowshipping and laughing with his family and our best friends, Craig and Anita Simmons. He had a special gift for taking care of the needs of the residents of Westwood Arms Apartments, where he worked. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he was relaxing with his Waffle House family and friends or was on the water doing what he loved to do, catching fish.
He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 34 years, Theresa, and two amazing and loving children, Taylor Heath, Blair Heath Ormond, husband and Donald’s fishing buddy Chris. Donald is also survived by his mother, Violet Heath; sister, Terry Heath Dixon, husband, Carl, and his grandmother, Lela Heath, who was a very special part of his life, nieces Danielle Dixon Heckathorn, Heather Dixon, and mother-in-law, Janice Mann. After the loss of his lifetime friend and brother-in-law, Ralph Gaskins, he placed his nephews, Johnathon Gaskins, Brandon Gaskins, niece, Lonni Beth Gaskins Price and their families in a special place in his heart. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Leroy Heath and grandfather, Raymond Bryant Heath.
His funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home, with the Reverend Craig Simmons, officiating. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home and other times at his home, 305 Fishing Creek Drive.
