Mr. Green was a Viet Nam veteran. After taking early retirement from Northern Telecom, he spent another ten years at Catalyst Manufacturing. When retired, he took up woodcarving as a hobby and won several ribbons in his first year at his first show. He was proud of being a charter member of the North Carolina Wood Carving Association. In addition to wood carving, he enjoyed fishing and reading, and loved living six months each in Beaufort and Blowing Rock.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Marilyn Arthur Green; son, Johnny Green and wife, Dawn; daughter, Rhonda Green; sister, Agnes Hobbs and husband, John; sister-in-law, Nancy Green; grandchildren, Logan Green (Sarah D'Orazio) Macy Woods and husband, Cole, Cassie Duncan and husband, Austin, Rachel Lassiter and husband, Zach, and Tyler Hingson and wife, Erica; seven great-grandchildren, Stetson and Saylor Woods, Anna and Benjamin Lassiter, Bodhi and Kamden Duncan and Lilly Green; nieces and nephews, Annette Green, Diana Fitzpatrick, JoAnn Poteete and husband, Brad and Donnie Hobbs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John F. Green and Richard Green.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
