David Jack Fussell Jr.

David Jack (D.J.) Fussell Jr., age 71, of New Bern, NC, passed away, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd., New Bern from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday, October 2, 2023, followed by graveside services at 11:00 AM at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

D.J. was born on August 3, 1952, in Edgecombe County, NC to Winnie Fussell and the late David Jack Fussell Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandy.

He has lived in New Bern since 1963. During this time, he served in the Army for three years and was stationed in Germany. D.J. was also a licensed electrician and long-haul truck driver.

Survivors include his mother, Winnie Fussell; daughters, Tracy Bloomberg (Brent) and Tanya Faulkner; grandchildren, Macey Bloomberg, Kayla Daugherty, Spencer Faulkner and Blake Faulkner; great grand-children, Aliannah, Brylin, and Emmersyn Daugherty; stepdaughter Dineen Wright; brothers, Mike Fussell (Judy) and Bill Fussell (Teresa); and sister, Gloria Booth (Miguel).
