Aunt Davetta, as she was to many, will be missed.  What a great and loving lady.  Always a joy to be around.  Prayers and loving thoughts to the family and closest friends.  Rest In Peace?

I was so sad to hear of Aunt Davetta's passing, and wishing I could be there to share in all the happy memories of her with everyone.  I am sending my love, and hope that you can feel my prayers long distance.

I'm sorry to hear about Miss Davetta's passing. My mother Corinne Simpson & I attended Bridgeton United Methodist Church with her & she was a special lady. Our sincerest sympathies & condolences go out to Mr. Hiram & the rest of her family. May she rest in peace.

Hiram, Janice, Billy, Freddie and all the Cuthrell family, our love and heartbreak reach out to you all at this time of sorrow and loss to all of us. It's hard to comfort anyone at a time like this with words. Just remember, Davetta was loved by everyone who knew her for to know her was to love her, it was not possible to know her and not love her. Her vivacious ways, laughter and joyful conversation. It was such a joy just to be in her presence. Pearl and I saw her and Hiram just a few weeks ago in New Bern when she was planning to come to PA for our recent wedding. We realize now what a blessing we missed when she became ill and could  not come. I was so sorry to hear this.  She was my mother's first cousin, born 6 days apart.  The last time I saw her was at Aunt Laura's funeral.  I always loved her.  Condolences to the rest of the family.

Dear Cousins,

My sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of dear Cousin Davetta.  She was a true Steel Magnolia and will always be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, forthrightness, and her true Southern hospitality, delicious food, and caring that she showed and share with her family and friends.

She was one of the founding organizers of The Family History Society of Eastern North Carolina in 2010 and greatly assisted and kept us on task in presenting the luncheon for New Bern's 300th Anniversary.  I will always remember her jokingly saying to me as the event and group grew, "Cousin David, we were just supposed to have a luncheon."

We are all better people for having her share her life with us.

May she rest in peace with all of her family and friends.
