Clifton “Cliff” D. Meadows, 98, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at CarolinaEast Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at West New Bern Presbyterian Church on Monday November 14th, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Jeff Sockwell and Rev. Greg Meadows, officiating. The committal service will be held at the Lakeside Chapel in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Cliff, the son of the late Marion Butler and Minnie Riggs Meadows, was born September 1924 in Jones County NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Maggie Garner Meadows; his oldest son Clifton Meadows, Jr.; and his siblings Willard Meadows, Wilbur Meadows, Lynwood Meadows, James “J. H.” Meadows, Lois King, Marion Meadows, William “Dan” Meadows, Dorothy Barwick, and Wade Meadows.
Cliff and his brother Marion Meadows were owners of the former Triangle Electrical Company and Electric Repair and Equipment Company until their retirement in 1989. For nearly all of his adult life, he was an active member of West New Bern Presbyterian Church and several masonic bodies, including the York Rite; Scottish Rite 33º; St. John’s Lodge, where he served as Master of the Lodge; and Order of the Eastern Star, where he served several years as the Worthy Patron. He was also a Noble Shriner.
Those left to cherish his memory include: sons Roy Meadows of Thornton CO, Stephen Meadows of Pensacola Beach FL, Warren Meadows of New Bern NC, and daughter Janet Meadows McGee of Manassas VA. Cliff is also survived by six grandchildren Craig Meadows of Geneva IL, Tracy Lynam of Westminster CO, Michelle Turner of Goodyear AZ, Nicole Meadows of El Segundo CA, Jennifer Warren of Carrboro NC, and Jonathan Meadows of Crown Point IN; and eight great-grandchildren Aidan and Riley Meadows of Geneva IL, Hailey and Matthew Lynam of Westminster CO, Ava and Ella Turner of Goodyear AZ, and Ethan and Ian Meadows of Crown Point IN.
The family will receive friends during the viewing at Cotten Funeral Home on Sunday, November 13th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
