Clara Crawford Scurlock

Clara Crawford Scurlock, age 89, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021. Clara was born in Cove City, NC on June 7, 1932. She was the daughter of Rudolph Powell and Donnie Wood Powell. Clara was a faithful member of Riverdale United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and loved her family very much. Clara loved going to church, watching TV, reading and feeding the birds. Clara retired from the phone company as a telephone operator. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

She is survived by her two children, John David Crawford and Susan Crawford Muse of New Bern, NC, granddaughter Erica Dawn Peele and grandson Christopher Ryan Muse. She also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Colby, Kendall and Dillon.

She is predeceased by her late husband John A. Scurlock and her first husband William R. Crawford, along with her parents and three brothers, Billy, Milton and Rodney. Sadly, she was also predeceased by her youngest child Stephen Dwight Crawford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverdale United Methodist Church in Clara’s honor.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Riverdale United Methodist Church with Pastor Rusty Willis officiating. Immediately following will be a private family interment at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. Online condolences can be made to www.cotten funeral home.com.
