Carol died at home surrounded by her loving family and caring people from Pamlico Hospice.
Her dad was active in WW2 on the Wasp in pacific battles. At the end of the war he went to college at the University of Maine where he also started a family. Carol was the first born in the small town of Biddeford, Maine followed quickly by two brothers.
This small family moved to Newark, NJ for her dad's first job and then onto California with the Aerospace industry. She lived most of her young life in the Golden State in the new development of Rancho Cordova, outside Sacramento, where she competed for years on the school swim team.
In 1966 her dad was transferred to Bell Aerospace in Buffalo, NY with Carol in tow after finishing one year of college. She got a job at Buffalo Forge Co in the personnel office. Having access to the personnel files of all the young bachelors at the plant she quickly made a list of her preferred choices. Her future husband, recent Mechanical Engineering graduate, was also checking out the new young employees. With Dave as her first choice they began dating in early 1967, got engaged and made plans for a wedding. Her future husband had enlisted in the Navy and would be attending OCS in Newport , RI While her future husband was gone at school for 6 months she planned the wedding, made her own wedding gown and made all arrangements.
Carol was married on 11/19/67 in Williamsville, NY to a newly commissioned Ensign. Their honeymoon was traveling crosscountry to his first assignment at Seabee school in Oxnard, California. Dave's first assign took Carol to Key West, Fla. where she was employed at Naval Civilian Personnel office. On 6/15/69 her first daughter, Rebecca, was born in a WW2 military barracks converted to a hospital. Within two months her husband was assigned to Marine Corp headquarters in Danang, Vietnam for the next 12 months. She returned to Buffalo, NY to be with family during her husband's absence.
When her husband returned she had a second daughter, Pamela, while he attended a company training program in Buffalo, NY. His first assignment in 1971 was to a field office in Houston, Texas where Carol established a new home and was employed by TRW and then Uniroyal as an executive secretary. She and husband were involved in the design and construction of their first home in New Caney, Texas. With increasing family demands she became a devoted stay at home mother for the next 5 years where she was involved with girls scouts, church and community activities. Her third daughter, Kathryn, was born at this time.
The family moved to Lee's Summit, MO in 1977 for husband's job change and was employed with major realty company as an executive secretary. Her ever career changing husband had her moved to Greenville, TN and then Charlotte, NC in 1980 where she took care of young family while making major changes to new home. Her innate creativity got her involved in a wide range of crafts which included sewing, needle craft, knitting, quilts, ceramic and stained glass. She excelled at everything she tried which resulted in major craft room requirements in present and future homes.
As children grew up she attended the local community college where she took extensive courses in Secretarial science, horticulture, cooking and mechanical systems. While her husband got involved in a variety of business ventures (5 different ones over 15 years) she was always very supportive with her office management, financial and computer graphics capabilities. Later she worked for 3 years in the Charlotte Latin (private school) athletic office where she enjoyed the daily contact with the students.
In 2000 she moved to Oriental, NC where again she was fully supportive of another husband career adventure handling all small business requirements. She became involved with the catholic church during its early development, design and construction in 2002, St Peter the Fisherman. She cared deeply about her new church and was involved in the choir for over 12 years.
In her desire to be involved in her new community she became very involved in the Pamlico GOP. She was president of the GOP Women's Club for 3 years, member of the executive committee, participated in district and state conventions plus several elections. She also utilized her business skills while employed as a graphics designer at the County Compass for 2 years. She also worked part time for a few local realty companies.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother (5e grandchildren) making continual efforts to spend quality time with all members.
She is preceded in death by her mother - Kathryn Cormier, father - Raymond Cormier and brother - David Cormier.
She will have a mass and burial on 8/18/23 At St Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church at 10:30.
