Brenda Diana Shepherd Williams

Brenda Diana Shepherd Williams, 73, of New Bern, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at her home. Easy to like and easy to love, Brenda was an independent, warm and friendly soul who had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep love for her family and friends. Put on this earth to be memorable, Brenda never met a stranger and always did her best to help and accommodate those around her. She loved to shag and enjoyed many great times with her friends in the New Bern Singles Club which she was an active member of for many years.

She is survived by her fiancé, Daniel Frank Townsend of the home; one son, Bryan Williams (Betty) of Morganton; one daughter, Kristy Bromley (Curt) of Dover; one brother, Wayne Shepherd of Greensboro; one sister, Linda Collins of Greensboro; five grandchildren and their families, Justin Williams (Terra) and their son Paxton, Jeremy Williams and his children, Waylen, Triston and Layla, Amber Williams and her daughter Bella, Brianna Smith and her son Carter, and Jordan Adams and her son Wyatt. She also leaves behind a special young man who was like a son to her, William Bray, III.

Brenda was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Alan Williams; her parents, Charles and Margaret Shepherd; and two brothers, Jerry Shepherd and Johnny Shepherd.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Chapel, with a time of visitation, good shagging music and refreshments to follow.
