Betty Garris Phillips

Betty had a talent for playing the piano. She played for Pleasant Acres Church back in the 60’s. She had a love for yard sales and going to auctions. She would be the first one there with her husband Harvey where they collected many things. She love fishing and would always catch the biggest fish.

Her family came first. She loved shopping for them. She would say “let’s shop till we drop.” Her daughter Betty Lynn, grandchildren Michael and Phillip Whitley and great-grandchildren Madison and Phillip were her prized possessions.

She was a member of Colony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Phillips. They were married 61 years this New Year’s Eve.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Lynn Butts and husband William Butts; grandchildren Michael Whitley and wife Carol and Phillip Whitley and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren Madison Whitley and Phillip Whitley, Jr.; and her feline friend Charlie.

Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28 Cotten Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 28 at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Burial will follow the service at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
