Barbara Farrell

Barbara Farrell, 80, of New Bern, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 surrounded by her children, after a brief illness.

Born Barbara Minary in Queens, NY, Barbara was a long-time resident of New Bern since 1990. She was a parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church, and a member of local golf and bowling leagues.

Barbara was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the beach, only 20 minutes away, golf, bowling, bingo and bunco. The holder of the family record with 2 hole-in-ones, her last round of golf was 2 weeks ago.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Helen and James Minary; her loving husband, Raymond Farrell; and granddaughter Eliza Farrell. She left this world holding a picture of Eliza near her heart.

She leaves behind daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Michael Flannery, son and girlfriend Michael Farrell and Kelly Bennett; daughter and son-in law Patricia and David Brown; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Michael Silverman and son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Caren Farrell; as well as grandchildren Raymond Elmendorf and spouse Kelcey Elmendorf, Jordan Brown, Megan Flannery Runci and spouse Eric Runci, Brian Flannery and fiancée Sophie Lammers, Dane Silverman and spouse Tina Silverman, Dereck Silverman and spouse Kailee Silverman, Mia Silverman Kalaka and spouse Kyle Kalaka, Kirsten Silverman, Tucker Farrell, Luke Farrell, Margaret Farrell and Maximilian Farrell; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Elmendorf, Riley Jo Elmendorf, Kinsley Silverman, Braelyn Silverman, Teagan Silverman and Lena Silverman; her sister Rita Hesse and spouse Robert Hesse and her sister Florence Dix; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, New Bern.
