Allen Maurice Smith

Allen Maurice Smith, 86, a long-time resident of New Bern, NC went to be with his Lord on August 4, 2024.

Allen grew up in Carteret County and retired from Civil Service at Cherry Pt, MCAS as a data programmer/analyst. He was a hard-working man with many talents and interests and loved learning. Many knew him from his time management studies with LTM and from his real estate business. His past hobbies included scuba diving, flying small planes, gardening, home repairs and playing with his grand babies. He was a gentle man with a kind spirit, a tender heart and a great sense of humor. His passing is a great loss to all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Monroe Smith, his brother, Billy Smith and grandson, Jonathan Gwin.

Allen is survived by his brother R.B. Smith, spouse Shelby; 2 daughters: Maurica L Gwin, husband Mark, and Pam S O'Connor, husband Tom, and 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Services to honor Allen will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1821 Rhem Ave, New Bern, NC at 2 pm on Friday August 16, 2024. Family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
