Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Wilfred J. and Veronica (Machnik) Hebert, he was a life-long resident of the area.
Mr. Hebert was 1948 graduate of Holy Family High School in New Bedford and attended Kinyon Campbell Accounting School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Poirier Post, as well as the American Legion.
He was the Owner of “Willies Tavern” in New Bedford for several years and also worked as an Electrician for Fortin Electrical for many years. He was an avid golfer and had his own “Willies Tavern” softball team. Baseball was his favorite sport. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and most importantly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: two daughters, Karen Boutin and her husband Richard of New Bedford and Susan Pimentel and her husband Carlton also of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Scott Frezza, Erin Dube, Christopher Holtkamp, Travis Boutin, James Holtkamp and John Holtkamp; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Holtkamp and Brandon Dube, with one more great grandson on the way, Noah James Holtkamp; two siblings, Janice Robischeau and her husband Richard of Florida and Robert Hebert and his wife Arlene of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 9 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his funeral mass at 10 AM in Holy Name Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours, Tuesday 5-8 PM.
