Vince Henry Fermino Sr., age 57, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away after a short illness on Monday, August 16, 2021. He was the husband of the late Susan Elisabeth (Aguiar) Fermino, with whom they shared 33 loving years together.
Vince was born on November 19, 1963, son of the late Henry V. Fermino and the late Virginia Gamboa and younger brother to the late Dana Fermino, he attended Bishop Stang High School of North Dartmouth, where he played football, before entering the Marine Corps upon graduation in 1981.
He worked for Papa Ginos as a manager opening up new restaurants throughout the Cape and Buzzard’s Bay, before working for a time as a car salesman at Kia Motors and other local dealerships. He then worked for a long time as a painter and as the proprietor of Three Guys Painting, before retiring early due to injury, as he had lung and heart issues for the better part of two decades. His hobbies include being a humorist and social butterfly, being happy and energized while listening to music, being akin to a professional chef when it came to the various dishes he created, an amateur botanist and caretaker of various plants and animals, mostly dogs, sometimes cats and a variety of fish, as well as an occasional conspiracy theorist and a lover of God, in addition to being a great lover and protector of his large family.
Surviving are his three sons: Bryan Aguiar and his wife Jiyeong Kim of South Korea, Vince Henry Fermino, Jr. and his wife Cori Slater of Attleboro, Nathan Michael Fermino of New Bedford; one daughter: Ashley Cecelia Gomes of New Bedford; one brother, Henry Fermino, Jr., and two sisters, Trina Cardoza and Gina Grace, both of New Bedford; four grandchildren: Lorielei Elizabeth Fermino, Sofia Layla Gomes, Vince Henry Fermino III and Nehemiah Miguel Santiago; countless cousins, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Vince will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, Massachusetts 02745, followed by a celebration of life at 8:00 PM.
