Suzie Sylvia

Suzie (Vieira) Sylvia, age 83, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Lawrence Sylvia, Jr. to whom she had been married for 64 years.

Born in Dartmouth, Mrs. Sylvia lived in Fairhaven most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Pimental Vieira and Virginia (Amaral) Vieira.

Suzie worked for many years as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Our Lady’s Haven in Fairhaven. She loved to roller skate, sing and spend time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters; Suzie Neibel of Germany, Cathrina dos Santos of New Bedford, five sisters; Helen Marshall, Shirley Lima, Virginia Vieira, Mary Davignon, Gloria Dagnall, three granddaughters; April Medeiros of Dartmouth, Chantel Puskeppeleit and her husband Andreas of Germany, Suzanne dos Santos and her companion Julie Dupree of Fall River, five great grandchildren; Joshua Medeiros, Noah Medeiros, Robert Puskeppeleit, Konrad Puskeppeleit, Paulina Puskeppeleit and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel and Jose Vieira.

Her funeral arrangements are in the care of the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
