Suzanne T. Poyant

Suzanne T. Poyant, age 70, of New Bedford, passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 10, 2014 unexpectedly. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late André and Theresa (Maranda) Poyant, she had been a lifelong resident of the city.

A graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1961, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years and most recently at J. C. Penny in Taunton before retiring. A communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church she was a member of their Woman’s Guild. She enjoyed knitting, being outdoors, and most of all spending time with her family and granddaughter Margaux.

She is survived by one son: Matthew A. Poyant and his wife Erin E. Poyant of Fairhaven, four brothers: André Poyant and his wife Anita, Philip T. Poyant and his wife Janet, Daniel Poyant and his wife Shannon, Julien Poyant and his wife Michel, three sisters: Constance LeComte, Gisele Gonsalves and her husband Steve, and Helene Goudreau and her husband Maurice, one granddaughter Margaux Poyant, and several nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She brought kindness to all who knew her and was giving to a fault. She touched many lives, always there to lend a hand and bend an ear. Her unwavering love and support for those she loved will be so sorely missed.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in Sacred heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
