Steven Douglas Cambra, 55, of Fairhaven passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 in his home surrounded by family after a brave four year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Jacquelyn (Froughton) Cambra.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Antonio Cambra and Eva (Souza) Cambra of Acushnet, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Cambra graduated from Fairhaven High School and SMU. He was a school teacher for Fairhaven Schools and Roosevelt Middle School. Steven was an avid sports fan including the Raiders, Red Sox, Celtics, and the University of Alabama.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Alexis and Paige Cambra; a sister Judy Dupont and her husband Donald of Acushnet; a brother, Antonio Cambra, III of Acushnet; a niece, Heather and great nephew, Daniel; his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Joan Garib; and three dogs, Remy, Chewy, and Bailey.
His funeral mass will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will be private.
