Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Jordan Correia and Alice (Texeira) Goddu, she was raised in E. Freetown where she had resided for many years before moving to the Attleboro and Foxboro area.
Mrs. Basson had received an Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy and also had an Associate’s degree in fine Arts.
She had worked as an occupational therapist in various settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers. She had worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and Kendred Healthcare.
Rosemary loved art of all kinds and was a member of the Norwood and Foxboro Art Associations. She enjoyed traveling, archery, Asian and Native American culture. Rosemary was a runner and member of the Colonial Road Runners Association. She painted many oil paintings and watercolors. She also loved sculpting. She loved the ocean and the sea, which translated into many her painting.
She is survived by her fiancé Donald Corliss of Foxboro; three sons, Joshua Basson, Harry Basson and Michael Basson all of E. Freetown; and two brothers, Jordan Correia of Taunton and Steven Correia of Florida.
Rosemary was an unparalleled mother who always put her family first in all situations. She instilled good morals in her children. Rosemary always tried to make the best out of everything and treated every person she met with respect and kindness.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
