Rose Anna Trahan, 90, of Acushnet passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Sippican Health Care Center of Marion, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Andre (Andy) E. Trahan who predeceased her in January this year at age 93. Rose and Andy celebrated 71 years of marriage in November 2023.
Born in New Bedford to Mary Duchaine (Patenaude) and Anthony Duchaine. Her entire life revolved around raising her family and caring for her aging Mom. She was a volunteer for the beautification project at the Parting Ways building grounds, active in the annual Apple Peach festival and volunteer fund raiser for the American Cancer Society.
Rose loved her family and hosted many summer BBQ’s, birthday parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She loved Fort Phoenix Beach and brought her children there to learn how to swim and expend their energy! In her later years, she never passed up the chance to drive by and occasionally go for a walk.
Rose loved visits and phone calls from her grandchildren and was always ready to bestow her experiences or offer advice sought by them. She was warm and loving and never turned anyone away.
Rose is survived by her children: Norma Jeanne Pimental and her husband George of Acushnet, Robert A. Trahan and his partner Denyse Conrad of Mattapoisett, Kenneth A. Trahan and his wife Susan of Columbus, Ohio, Peter A. Trahan and his wife Mary of Fairhaven, Matthew J. Trahan and his wife Robin of Acushnet, her sister Louise Stone of Rhode Island and her very best childhood friend and maid of honor Aileen Walter of Pittsburg, PA; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was mother of the late Andre P. Trahan and predeceased by her sisters Rita, Lillian, Regina, Doris, and brothers Joseph, Jean and Phillip.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
