Rosa C. Almeida

Rosa C. (Pereira) Almeida, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of Flausino D. Almeida. The couple celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this past September.

Born in Achadinha, St.Michael, Açores, Mrs. Almeida lived in New Bedford for the past 44 years. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mariana (Isabel) Pereira.

Rosa immigrated to the United States in 1967 and worked as a stitcher for Calvin Clothing in New Bedford. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, and spending time with her family, especially her dearest grandchildren who she called, “the joys of her life.”

Survivors in addition to her husband are her two sons; Nelson Almeida and his fiancé Patricia Amaral of New Bedford, Jeffrey Almeida and his wife Kelli of New Bedford, four brothers; Jermias Pereira, Mauricio Pereira, and Jose Pereira , all of Achadinha, St. Michael, Joao Pereira of Victoria, British Columbia, two sisters; Maria Monteiro of Kitimat, British Columbia, Mariana Cabral of Achadinha, St. Michael, and her two grandchildren; Kaitlyn Almeida and Jack Almeida both of New Bedford. She was the sister of the late Odilia Medeiros of Achadinha, St. Michael.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November, 29, 2011 at 8 am from the Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford MA 02745 followed by a funeral mass at 9 am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA 02745. Visiting hours Monday, November 28, 2011 from 5-8 pm. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
