Roland Y. Secour, 82, of New Bedford, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Alden Court in Fairhaven. He was the devoted and loving husband of Theresa (Renauld) Secour with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Armand O. and Cora (Duhamel) Secour, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Secour served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in Germany during the Korean War.
He was employed at My Bread Baking, Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1982.
Roland was a member of the Acushnet American Legion and enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael Secour and his wife Donna of Rochester and Timothy Secour of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Ashlee, Alyssa and Cassie Secour, Taylor Murphy, Lindsay and Abby Aldworth; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Cody Smith, Kayden and Jayden Duarte; a sister, Aldea Meunier of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Secour of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Rene Secour and brother-in-law, Maurice Meunier.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 8:30am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center, 389 Alden Rd., Fairhaven.
