Robert H. Rivard

Robert H. Rivard, age72 of E. Freetown, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 after a lengthy illness in St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Barbara (Luiz) Rivard to whom he had been happily married for 42 years.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Herve O. and Eva (Bourque) Rivard, he was a long time resident of the area. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, class of 1964. He loved his family dearly, especially his two granddaughters, Tuesday and Olivia.

He was an avid fan of cars, NASCAR and the NHRA. He had a deep passion for racing, something he and Barbara enjoyed doing together over the years. He loved music, especially music of the 50’s. He and his family were very active members of the ARBA for over 10 years, showing rabbits throughout New England and the mid-west. Robert most enjoyed watching Dora the Explorer and Sponge Bob with his granddaughters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey R. Rivard and wife Faith, Scott A. Rivard and his wife Jillian of E. Freetown and Keith D. and his wife Jamie of Fall River; a brother, Norman Rivard and his wife Arlene of OH; a sister in-law, Pauline Brightman; two grandchildren, Tuesday and Olivia Rivard; many nieces and nephews and his pet bird BOO. He was the brother of the late Rene H. Rivard.

His memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 12:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited.
