Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Eileen (Fortier) Perry and her lifelong companion the late Freddie Protin, he was a lifelong area resident.
Before he retired he worked for Rodney Metals in the Southend of New Bedford. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1357.
He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 as a SP4 and was assigned to the 1st Aviation Brigade.
He was a humble man, yet very giving to his nieces and nephews. He had a special love for his late dog Bronx.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Bandarra of New Bedford; a niece, Kris Cambra and her husband Bill of Dartmouth; nephew, Billy Cambra; and nephew and godson, Kevin Cambra. He was the uncle and godfather of the late Kim Arruda and the uncle of her surviving children Sarah Arruda and Jessica Arruda.
He has always been thankful for his families help. Including his special family member and personal nurse Kayla Zussy along with all the staff at CareOne at New Bedford.
