Robert A. Costa

Robert A. Costa, age 74 of New Bedford, passed away on December 24, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family at his side. A devoted family man. He was the husband of Theresa (Medeiros) Costa to whom he happily shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in Acushnet, he was the son of the late Frank Costa Jr. and Rose (Correia) Costa, he was a long time resident of New Bedford. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He was employed by Calvin Clothing; then for 19 years as a shipping and receiving and forklift operator for AFC Cable Systems retiring in 2012. Family was everything to Robert; he was an avid Bruins and NE Patriot’s fan, he enjoyed bowling and watching MASH. Above all else, he was proud to be a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Costa and his wife Lori of Westport and Robert A. Costa Jr. and his fiancé Lisa Smith of New Bedford; a brother, Dennis Costa and his wife Elaine of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Kiara, Shelby, Dakota, Alyssa and Katelyn Costa and several nieces and a nephew. He was the brother of the late Frank Costa, III, and Patricia Pike.

Robert’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10:00AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
