Rita M. LeBlanc

Rita M. (Goguen) LeBlanc, age 91, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully upon enduring all stages of dementia, on Monday, November 21, 2022 at home with her family by her bedside. She was the beloved wife of the late Ovila J. LeBlanc with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.

Born in Rogersville New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Marc and Eleanor (Bourque) Goguen.

Rita worked for various New Bedford clothing factories in her younger years and was proud to be a Home Health Aide for 15 years prior to retirement.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time at “The Camp” on Sconticut Neck in Fairhaven, long walks, and buying scratch tickets. She was also known for her Baked Beans and Gorton. Rita had the silliest sense of humor, loved making people laugh and being surrounded by her family. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her loving children, Anne M. Jacques and her husband Mark of Halifax, Carol M. LeBlanc of New Bedford, and Maurice O. LeBlanc and his wife Kathleen of Acushnet; her grandchildren, Beth Methia and her husband Ryan of Acushnet, and Andrea LeBlanc and her significant other Eric Hines of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Methia, Brynn Methia, and Aldric Hines, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seventeen siblings, all of Canada.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 9:00am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Gabriel The Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
