Rita A. Baron

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Arsene and Anna (Malenfant) Gagnon, she had moved to New Bedford in 1950.

Mrs. Baron attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, was a professional singer and sang in many church choirs and services. She was happiest when she could bring a smile to everyone with a song.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth A. Baron of Taunton and Gary A. Baron and his wife Rochelle of Freetown; a daughter, June A. Tsonos of Taunton; three granddaughters, Tammy Millward and her husband Shayne, Melissa and Elena Tsonos all of Taunton; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Kali Millward and one nephew George Baron of Rochester. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Arthur Tsonos.

Her funeral will be held Friday, July 20, 2012 at 9 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours, Thursday 4-7 PM.
