Richard R. Rocheleau 80, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 29, 2023 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carole (Agrelo) Rocheleau to which they were in their 57th year of marriage.
Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Romeo and Margaret (Souza) Rocheleau, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Richard was a graduate of New Bedford High School and a member of the National Guard as a military police officer. Richard was employed by Revere Copper and Brass as a shipping manager until his retirement, after which he worked as a livery driver taking patients to medical appointments.
Family was everything to Richard, he loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Carole was the love of his life; every night, Richard would turn down the bed covers for his wife and made sure her thermos was filled with water and at her bedside. He would drive Carol everywhere, dropping her off at the door before parking the car. He was the first one to offer anyone in need a ride, anytime and anywhere, he was always right there. He loved Golf and gardening in his spare time.
In addition to his beloved wife Carole, he is survived by his children, Jeffrey Rocheleau of New Bedford, Jacquelyn Cudmore and her husband Glenn of Fairhaven and Josh Rocheleau and his companion Christine Peterson of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Korel and Zachary Cudmore, Mallory and Emery Rocheleau and bonus grandchild Colin Peterson; his great-grandchild, Jasper LeVine; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Rocheleau and Diane Branchard.
In lieu of flowers, please offer a ride to someone in need, whether for an errand or doctors appointment, in Richard’s memory.
