A legend in his in own time…to his many nieces and nephews, anyway. He was the one and only Rick Pic, a diamond in the rough and tough. A great storyteller of his many adventures out at sea. He was a fisherman. A scalloper. A master at his craft. He lived most of his life on the water. Throughout the years, the sea challenged him and he won every time. With the exception of a few missing fingers (a Picard thing) he always came back alive with tales to tell. Like the time he fell off the back of the boat in shark infested waters off Puerto Rico. He watched as the boat sailed into the sunset figuring he’d be shark bait….it wasn’t for hours later 5 to be exact that the boat realized he was missing and they back tracked to find and retrieve him. He was also a survivor of “The Perfect Storm.” He escaped death many times and his family would joke about him having 9 lives.
On 6/6/2022 to the dismay and sadness of all who loved him they were faced with the fact that Dad, Uncle Ricky, Brother Ricky, Rick was not invincible.
He was set free from this Earth to rest in eternal Peace. He was reunited with his mom,
Rita (Rock) Picard and his Love Sandra Monteiro. The 2 of which he missed oh so dearly.
Also, his brother Laurent Charles Picard Jr (Larry) and his wife Sally and his father Laurent Charles Picard Sr.
No doubt he was joyfully met at the gates by a whole squad of Family and friends.
He leaves behind his daughters Rita and Sadie Picard and bonus children Shannon and Jacob Monteiro, his granddaughter Madisyn Shaye Picard, his sisters Jacquelyn Allain and her husband Michael and Christine Lucianno and her husband Antone. His brothers and best friends Gary Picard and Dennis Picard and his wife Deborah. He has many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews and even Great Greats as well as Cousins, Aunts and Uncles. He comes from a very large French family and was so proud of his French heritage.
He will be sorely missed by them all but the tales will live on. They will continue to be told and retold for generations.
This is how he’ll truly become that Legend.
A visitation for Richard will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, Massachusetts 02745, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM.
