Richard Lizotte, 82, of East Freetown, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Claudette M. (Dube) Lizotte with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Donat and Dora (Mondou) Lizotte, he had resided in East Freetown for the past 43 years.
Mr. Lizotte was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, class of 1960 and proudly served in the United States Navy.
He was the owner of Lizotte’s Welding. Previously, he worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing, Woods Hole Oceanographic and the Steamship Authority.
Richard was a car enthusiast who built 2 Trans Am cars and also built his own garage. He enjoyed tending to his lawn and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his three children, Michael R. Lizotte and his wife Lisa, Christopher D. Lizotte and Francine C. Lizotte; a sister, Jeanne Jeronymo and her husband Albert; two grandchildren, Thomas and Elizabeth Lizotte; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Lizotte and his wife Jean.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 5-8pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Funeral, Wednesday at 9am from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., East Freetown. .
