Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Eugene and Doris (Pelletier) Gula he lived most his life in Acushnet. He was a member of the East Freetown Congregational-Christian Church.
Mr. Gula graduated from New Bedford High School. He also served in the United States Army. Richard worked as a teacher of chemistry and natural science. He was a true American muscle car enthusiast and a long time conservation commission member as well as a Zoning Board of appeals member.
He is survived by two sons, Nathaniel Gula and his longtime girlfriend Sarah Coache and Aiden Gula; Charmaine, the mother of his children; some of his best friends, John Baptista and John Abee; a godson, Boshi Baptista; and family friend, Kevin Dakin.
His funeral will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10 am in the East Freetown Congregational-Christian Church, 2 Washburn Rd., E. Freetown. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
