I just heard the song American Pie. It always reminds me of my 8th grade English teacher, Mr. Picard. One of our projects in his class was to analyze each line of the song and figure out which musical celebrities were being referred to in the song. That has stayed with me all these years.  I was in his class in 1971. A memorable year in English class. RIP, Mr. Picard.

I remember Ray (Picard) from the New Bedford Adult Education program. I helped in tutoring math along with Phil (Cipressi) & Arlene.  He (Ray) was rather funny, good sense of humor. Whenever he didn't know someone that he supposedly should know he'd say "I remember you! We went to different High Schools together!" I enjoyed helping with the Adult Education program mainly because of him, because he made showing up for this volunteer event (on my part) fun & friendly.

Even though Jack and I have left Dartmouth and we are now living at The Villages, Fl., we have heard  the sad news of Ray's passing.  Everytime I saw Ray over the years or should I say decades, he always had a smile on his face!  Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I worked as a fellow teacher with Ray and as his asst. principal and principal and could always rely on him for his direction in educational matters when I was just starting out and as time moved on. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family members of Raymond. My memory's of Mr. Picard(which I always addressed him when I saw him) were the days of which I was studying for my GED. He was a great teacher. He made my studying time enjoyable. May he now be in the Lord's classroom .
