Raymond N. Normandin, 65, of New Bedford and formally of Los Angeles, CA passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Claire (Belanger) and Albert Normandin.
He is survived by a sister, Diane Leclair and her husband Roland of New Bedford; a niece Allison (Leclair) Bartholomew and her husband Daniel of Plymouth and their two daughters, Lily and Margaux and a nephew Brian and his wife Skaiste and their son, Rokas of Alexandria, VA; and multiple cousins and friends.
Ray was a former member of Gold’s Gym and participated in body building competitions. He continued to frequent WOW Gym until just before his passing. Ray moved to California in the late 80’s to pursue his dream of acting. He was also an avid antiques collector and enjoyed displaying and selling his items. He owned a beautiful home in Hollywood and one could see the “Hollywood” sign from his back yard.
He returned to New Bedford in 2015 and reconnected with his friends and cousins. If one thing could be said of Ray: the song performed by Frank Sinatra sums it up best: “I did it my way”.
His services are private and under the direction of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. For online tribute: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
