Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Omer and Marie L. (St. Pierre) Gagnier he was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of the former St. Joseph-St.Therese Church.
Mr. Gagnier served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the Plymouth County Hospital as a 3rd Class Engineer. He was a member of the ACA and St. Vincent de Paul Society. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing cards. Spending time with his family was very important, and he’ll be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rene R. Gagnier and his wife Diane of Roanoke, VA, Dianne C. Nassr and her husband Michael of Assonet, Paul J. Gagnier and his wife Donna of Freetown, Joanne R. Collins and her husband James of Fountain Hill, AZ, and Roger O. Gagnier and his wife Annette of Wrentham; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late, Jennifer Gagnier; and brother of the late Adelard Gagnier, Albert Gagnier, Leo Gagnier, Rene Gagnier, Paul Gagnier, Roger Gagnier, Jeannette Rivard, Rita Laferrier, and Lorraine Oulette.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 9:00 am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Gabriel of The Archangel Parish, 343 Tarklin Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
