Pamela R. (Wood) Cormier, 62, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Leo Cormier, Jr. with whom he would have celebrated 41 years of marriage on September 27, 2021.
Born in New Bedford a daughter of the late Lawrence “Woody” Wood, Jr. and Joan (Winterbottom) Wood of New Bedford. She was a resident of Acushnet her entire life until 7 years ago when she moved to Wareham. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Wareham.
Pam worked as a telephone operator for Verizon for 18 years before her retirement.
She was one of the most compassionate, kind people anyone could ever meet. She filled the room with her boisterous laugh, tight hugs and warm smile. She was a pillar of strength and had unconditional love for her family and friends even when times were tough. She was eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Pam loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren and had great compassion for animals.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Courtney Turner and her husband Eric of Acushnet; two grandchildren, Connor and Chelsey; an aunt, Sandra Rodrigues of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Jonathan Cormier.
Her funeral service will be Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. For online obituary/tribute: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
