Norman C. Hope

Norman C. Hope, 87, of New Bedford, peacefully passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Deneault) Hope with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Norman was a loving husband and father. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Michael Hope and his wife Kathy of New Bedford; three step grandchildren, Stephanie, Anthony and Marissa Castellone of Las Vegas, Nevada

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Yvonne (Laplante) Hope, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, concentrating in auto repair and served in the Army National Guard for two years.

Norman started his career as an auto mechanic and then became an automotive service manager for Sears Automotive. He continued his education to be certified as a small engine night course instructor. Toward the end of his career he moved to automotive sales.

Norman had many hobbies and interests including stamp collecting and gardening. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and enjoyed a daily two mile walk with his beloved dog, Lady. Norman also volunteered at St. Killian's Church bingo.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 9-10:30am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
