Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Andrews) McCarthy, she was a resident of Acushnet for the past 6 decades. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.
Maureen was the owner of Twin Oaks Ceramic Studio for over 50 years. Here, she created a space where her many students became friends while she facilitated their quality creations.
Maureen was an avid fan of New England sports and Notre Dame Football. She was dedicated to youth baseball, including many years of team sponsorship. She had a great affinity to the care and well-being of all animals, and rescued many throughout the years.
She is survived by her sons, Robert P. Rivet and his wife Evelyn and Stephen M. Rivet of Acushnet; her siblings, Kathy Byrne and her husband David of Hyannis, Charlotte Caron and Michael D. McCarthy both of Falmouth; her sister-in-law and loving care giver, Adrienne Rivet: her sister-in-law, Francine Demers: her grandchildren, Meaghan Tully, Timothy Rivet and Cole Rivet; her great-grandchildren, Issac and Gabriel Tully; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin J. Rivet and her sister, Barbara Senna.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10am in St. Mary's Church, 440 Main St., Fairhaven. Following the Mass, burial will take place in Acushnet Cemetery.
