Mary I. Marchant

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Picanso) Rodrigues, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford.

Mary graduated from New Bedford High School and Diman Regional School of Nursing. She worked as a LPN at St. Luke’s Hospital for 21 years and five years as a paraprofessional with New Bedford Public Schools. She enjoyed being with family, especially her grandchildren, bike riding, cooking, dancing and annual visits to Martha’s Vineyard with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Fournier and her husband Richard of New Bedford and Lisa Oliveira of New Bedford; grandchildren, Megan Oliveira and Sydney Fournier; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Harper; siblings, Beatrice Silva and her husband Eduardo of Plymouth, Alfred Rodriques and his wife Marcella of New Bedford, Roy Rodrigues and his wife Lydia of Wareham, and Clement Rodriques of Lakeville; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Marguerita Coutinho, Antonio Rodriques, Joseph Rodriques, Edward Rodriques, Luiz Rodriques, Julio Roderigues, Rosalia Rodriques, Laura Souza, and Alice Roderick.

Her visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
