Maria E. Teixeira

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, Maria was a long time resident of the City of New Bedford. A devout wife and mother, her family was her everything, especially her grandchildren. She was an extremely independent woman. She was loved spending time with her family, cooking, walking on the beach, and going for long rides. Maria was a faithful and devout Catholic.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Alice Joia and her husband Manuel of New Bedford and Ana Teixeira of Praia; a son, Osvaldo Lopes of Brava, Cape Verde; seven grandchildren, Irma, Carlos, Edna, Jose, Yolanda, Euclides and Richard and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Carlos Teixeira and a sister Francelina Gomes.

At the conclusion of Mass, everyone is invited to join the family in the church hall for brunch.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 9:00AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
