Manuel R. Everett

Born in Fairhaven, son of the late Antone R. and Mary (Sylvia) Everett, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and a graduate of Fairhaven High School, class of 1948.

Mr. Everett joined the Navy in 1951 and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea. He joined the Army Reserves in 1964 and served 17 years as Motor Sergeant, Supply Sergeant and Utility foreman with the 483rd Engineers, then 4 years with the 455th General Hospital as Utilities foreman and Medic. He also spent 5 years with the 1114th Military Intelligence. He retired in 1991 as Sergeant 1st class with 35 years military service and 31 years with Federal service.

Manuel enjoyed gardening and playing cards at local senior centers and churches.

He is survived by his devoted companion Lorraine West; a son, Mark Everett and his wife Joanne of Fairhaven; a daughter, Kristine Hall and her husband Scott of Derry, NH; four grandchildren, Joshua and Michael Souza, Ross and Kyle Everett; four great-grandchildren, Marissa, Brayden, Will and Max Souza. He was the brother of the late Antone Everett Jr., John Everett and Rita Trull.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8PM. Burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Mattapoisett. For online tributes please visit: www.rock-funeralhome.com
